Someone frankly pointed out to me that perhaps there’s a viewpoint to a guy’s dating insecurity that I did not consider. Did I for one minute think that the reason for a man’s hesitation to date women is not behavioral, but rather, biological? Although taken aback, I admit that I did indeed overlook that particularly important issue that some guys deal with, and it’s time to make amends. I am going to discuss this disorder occurring in some men that causes embarassment and self pity.

Frivolity aside, this is a serious condition that men suffer through, usually in secret. The tension that they feel with this secret is magnified by the thought of dating a hot prospect and getting started on a passionate relationship. Imagine going through the process of getting-to-know, liking, going out and finally taking the first step to a more permanent dating set-up… and then failing to perform during a critical phase of the new relationship. I know it’s not fair to generalize that sex is the one major factor in a relationship, but the consummation of a new and promising connection is definitely something that any woman (or man) would want.

E.D. is as frustrating for women as it is for men. The situation is a bit different, though, when a girl has dated the guy for a long time prior to his contracting this disorder. In this case, the girl will most probably understand and show support.
