I’ve been writing love letters for my friends for years, but this time I found a no-brainer way to do it. I went to this love site to look at a wordpress theme and guess what I found… love letter and break up letter generators!

Mushy, cheesy, whatever you call it, it’s still a way to produce those love letters with minimum thinking. Though I really couldn’t use the letters I produced ‘as is’ and I had to customize, I had fun using these and here are the three letters I produced using the tools…

I. Woobie’s Sample Love Letter produced using the Love Letter Generator

Dear (Your Lover’s Name),
I have waited so long to be able to declare to you my sentiments. I still remember the day we first met. How you make me feel is something that can only be felt, never explained. You see, I have never felt this way before. I am thinking about all the things we’ve spoken about. We have so much in common.
You invade my thoughts. You can change my mood from sad to happy. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I will love you forever and for always.
(Your name here)

II. Woobie’s Tame Break Up Letter Produced Using the Break Up Letter Generator -
Note: words in red are my originals

Dear (Your Lover’s Name),
I feel very sad to have to write you this letter, and I hope you can forgive me for doing so. I think we both know that our relationship has been over for some time. I have loved every minute of the time we have spent together. I feel bad that it has to be over. You see, the thing is I need some space. Ever since I told you about my cowboy fetish, things haven’t been right between us, and you never noticed.
All I can say is that I really hope we can still be friends, and goodbye. We will always have that breakfast by the beach, although now maybe the word “beach” refers to me with a different spelling. I am sorry.
Yours in spirit if not in body,
(Your Name)

III. Woobie’s Evil Break Up Letter produced using the breakup letter generator - Note: words in red are my originals

Dear (Your Lover’s Name),
I am pleased to be writing you this letter, and I hope you read it and never call me again. Even if you haven’t realized it, I know that our relationship is clearly not working for you. I have been so-so for every second of the hours we have spent together. I feel good that I can’t tell you this face to face. You see, the thing is, you blew it. Ever since you showed me your true size, I mean colors, things just haven’t been the same between us. You know damn well what I’m talking about. All I can say is that I really hope I never see you again, and good luck - you’re going to need it.
BTW, you can keep the vibrator and I’m getting the locks changed.
(Your name here)

Fun eh? Try it!

One issue that I have dealt with over the years is my lack of automobile. For various reasons (no parking space, laziness, lack of priority etc), I have never really felt the urge to buy a car for myself. There’s the issue of gas, and how it eats up my budget; and also the issue of not being able to sleep at night knowing how my investment is just outside my place being ogled by thieves. Now that I have a son, however, I have been thinking about getting one; for the reason that he could need it someday to attract girls.

Sounds shallow? For sure. However, it is a fact that some girls would rather have boyfriends with cars than those who don’t (e.g. “How will he pick me up? He’s going to make me walk?!?“). The fact that my son got turned down by a girl because he didn’t have a car will always be at the back of my mind, no matter what reason the girl stated.

Some guys treat their automobiles like a girlfriend, or even an extension of their manhood. Lol, if it would make a difference in my son’s future social life, I will work my ass off just to get him that sordidly expensive car that could make or break his love proposals.

The band Eraserheads is a symbol of my college days. We’d go to their concerts and wouldn’t mind that there were no seats. I remember nights of watching them perform in parking lots and the way I kept my hands inside my boyfriend’s pockets because it was so chilly. They disbanded in 2002, but their songs did not die; at least not to the generation they sang to.

Now, they are having a reunion concert on August 30, 2008 at the CCP Complex, Manila. It’s a one-night only show with each band member receiving up to 10 million pesos as talent fee! What is the reason for this big investment? Their young fans then (my generation) are presently the prime movers in the Philippines, the CEOs of businesses, the cutthroat marketing managers, lawyers and doctors … loyal fans who can now afford to pay for exorbitantly priced tickets just so they can re-live their heydays.

Their songs became quite popular because every lovesick college kid during that time could relate to them. Profound lyrics that tell a story or two about some guy falling in love and getting dumped. For me, they are the only band in the Philippines who can turn carefree, flowery poetry into pop music.

Just take a bite, It’s alright…
Taste the taste that sent all mothers giggling in sheer delight…
Take a bite, It’s alright…
A little lovin’ and some fruit to bake… Life is a piece of cake…
‘Fruitcake‘ the Eraserheads’ Christmas song

The Eraserheads and Romance - An Analysis

Here are some of their romantic songs that made a lot of impact. They all have that quaint, boyish quality that endeared this band to me and my generation. The vocalist’s voice is not in any way GOOD, not at all. But the delivery, the cleverly crafted lyrics and novelty song-like melody kept us rapt.

Pare ko (translation: My Homie) - A story of a budding playboy who felt love for the first time and got dumped in the process. He then talks to a homie about his broken heart (*cough* bruised pride). The main lyrics of the song translate as “OMFG, Gadamit, why the F* did she diss me?!? What the F* is this life?!?“… which is the exact same thing on the mind of anyone who has ever been dumped anyway.

Julie Tearjerky - Not among their popular songs, but touched me deeply because listening to it made me think of myself. A desperately angsty female teenager who was really just another lost girl who needed a bear hug. :-)

Shake Yer Head - A young guy resists the machismo culture and insists on flower power as the way to live life and get his dreams.

and this song….

With a Smile - A guy comforts his crying girlfriend and tells her that things aren’t that bad at all. For some reason they always sang this song last, perhaps because they knew its effect on their viewers. Whenever they sang this song, boyfriends and girlfriends (or strangers) would look at each other and sing along, like they were actually singing the lyrics of the song to each other. It’s THAT powerful. Listen to the song and read the lyrics to get what I mean.

Lift your head. Baby, Don’t be scared of the things that could go wrong along the way…
You’ll get by with a smile. You can’t win at everything but you can try.

Baby, you don’t have to worry, ’cause there ain’t no need to hurry.
No one ever said that there’s an easy way.
When they’re closing all their doors, and they don’t want you anymore….
This sounds funny but I’ll say it anyway…

“Girl I’ll stay through the bad times even if I have to fetch you everyday
I’ll get by if you smile… You can never be too happy in this life.”

In a world where everybody hates a happy ending story,
It’s a wonder love can make the world go round.
Then, don’t let it bring you down and turn your face into a frown
You’ll get along with a little prayer and a song.

Lift your head, baby, don’t be scared of the things that could go wrong along the way
You’ll get by with a smile…. Now it’s time to kiss away those tears goodbye

I’m running the risk of being called out for stereotypical thinking, but I have to get this post out of my system.

You see, if you don’t get something out of your system, it eats you up. You end up repressed and raring to do rebellious things; things that will turn you into a libidinous blogger, so that all you can talk about are the things that need to get out of your system… One day, you will suddenly snap and set up a blog, and talk about stuff that make you so, so hot… *screams*

But I digress.

The Girls from Exclusive High Schools

I graduated from an all-girl Catholic high school (middle school to our foreign friends, from 12 to 16 years old) and jumped right into the arms of my co-ed alma mater. All my previous exposure to guys did not prepare me for the reality of having to deal with them on a daily basis, in a school setting and in the dating scene. Suddenly, the whole classroom was filled with antics of the opposite sex, and initially, I was taken aback.

I am not saying that girls from exclusive high schools don’t meet guys, we do. We attend promenades and getting-to-know-you parties with guys from other exclusive schools; and every day, we find several hundred guys lined up in front of our high school at dismissal time, either waiting for their girlfriends or just checking out the fragrant herd of female species parading magnificently out of the school gate.

Female Bonding

Some girls could not stand the ‘pressure’ of not interacting with the opposite sex, but most of us who stayed inside the single gender school loved the feeling of being with other girls. It’s like a big slumber party where girls can discuss boys and girl stuff with their friends. The only trouble was, not many have had experiences dealing with the opposite sex, and almost all were just making up theories of how to run relationships and connect with guys. In fact, if one of us was rumored to have already kissed a guy, we would gather around her and would ask so many pointed questions (Was it a wet kiss? How did it feel? What does saliva taste like?).

Lesbianism and Bisexuality

There are three things that could happen when you spend 4 or so years in an exclusive school during the time when hormones just started going berserk and the notions of sexuality were just forming:

You appreciate the beauty of women so much that you fall in love with them.

You understand the concept of lesbianism and bisexuality way better than a coed-schooled person who did not go through the same experiences, and you do not find it weird that women can fall in love with other women; or that men can fall in love with other men. Or,

You become completely homophobic.

Womanhood Overdrive

While I would recommend that there should be a boot-camp for new single gender school graduates prior to entering college, I take pride in being one. Girls from single gender schools are more assertive than those from coed schools, particularly in relationships. Imagine listening to lectures pointing to women empowerment and women’s roles in society for four years; encouraging each other during recess to never take shit from men; and celebrating the goddess in every woman on a daily basis. Some of our country’s most radical Feminists and women politicians are from exclusive catholic girls’ schools, and that is telling of the quality of women these schools produce.

Learning about zodiac personalities is a fun way to sense out people. There are a few who are very skeptical about it, but for the most part, people are entertained by zodiac love signs and what they say about a person’s behavior. The fact that so many people share this particular interest of mine warms my heart and keeps me inspired to pursue this passion.

I came across an article at Cafepress showing zodiac symbols in stained glass. I chose two of my favorites, Aries and Libra, my sign and the BF’s, respectively.

My only problem with the images is: that’s exactly what they are, images! These aren’t real glass sculptures of zodiac symbols but drawings made through a Faux Stained Glass illustration technique. As the name suggests, these are works of art on paper. The image starts out as a drawing, which is then painted over with a photo of real stained glass. What could be a wonderful glass pendant or mantel decoration is still just a concept, albeit a very pretty and realistically illustrated concept.

Coincidentally, I came across this advertiser’s site Hand Blown Glass, and the artist running it (Darren Goodman) has the same last name as the late, great astrologer Linda Goodman (weird coincidence eh?). If any one of my visitors reached this page and hopes to find someone who could actually create sculptures of zodiac symbols, he is the guy to approach.

As a kid, I have been very curious about relationships and lurked around adults when they had their heart to heart conversations, like when aunts, family friends and girl friends of my mom would come over; or the drinking sessions in our house and my dad’s friends would be there talking about anything under the sun, including women. I’d be there behind the tapestry in the sala, pretending to read a book.

While, I have been shushed many times for asking ‘inappropriate questions’, I persisted until one of the more sensible grown ups answered me. One particular time, the conversation revolved around commitment and why some people cheat. I asked,

“Auntie, what is loyalty? How does one know that a spouse is being unloyal?”

She looked at me directly and answered with an analogy “A man slipped while walking on the street with an open manhole. Only, he did not fall in. He went home unscathed; and his wife, although pissed at the mess, forgave him for his torn and dirty jeans.”

Thus, I concluded that…..

A loyal spouse will always go home to his partner, every single day of his life. If he slips along the way and finds himself in trouble for one reason or another, he will still go home to face his wife. Even if he has to explain so many things and risk judgment, he will still go home.

The burden of forgiveness lies on the partner. In fact, I think that cheating per se entirely depends on how both parties define it. Ending a relationship because of unfaithfulness will mean that one or the other cannot live with ‘the slip’ anymore.

What do you think?

Talk about commitment phobia! Here’s a show that directly touches on men who run away from the “L” word. This ed fringe show is about a guy who got set up by speed daters and is finally able to face his past girlfriends.

The plot is no secret. He gets to interact with 5 girls he dated in the past and he will have to choose one. The suspense factor in this show, is that the audience gets to choose the ending. Voters can root for one of the 5 girls, and the one who gets the most votes will be Mark’s (the guy) girlfriend. Personally, I am rooting for the rocker chick, maybe because she seems like Mark’s exact opposite and they’ll have fun together. But then again, I have a penchant for the most unique choice.

It shows daily for 3 weeks only: August 2 to August 25, 2008 (special previews on July 31 and August 1) at 4:45 PM, at C Cubed - Venue #50 Right on the Royal Mile!, Brodie’s Close, Lawnmarket, Edinburgh, UK. The show will hit Hollywood, California USA on August 8, 2008.

Now that the dust has settled around the issue of Joey Mead’s wearing of Philippine colors in the Philippine Independence day special issue of Rogue Magazine, I, the evil one, will put in my opinionated dibs on this one.

First of, we all know who Joey Mead is. She is the half-Iranian, half-Filipino model with the British accent, who made waves during the 90s starting from her portrayal of a high-class socialite who preferred street food to expensive French cuisine in an Ad Congress commercial. Her line in that clip was “Manong (older guy), may I buy your balls?“. She was, of course, referring to fish balls, which the old guy was vending on the street.

The Philippines’ Independence day was last month, and this girl provocatively posed ‘nude’ on the cover of Rogue. Nude in quotation marks because she was wearing something… body paint in the country’s red, blue, white and yellow colors.

I am somewhat confused on what the cries of outrage are all about. Is it because the Philippine flag was painted on a nude body? Or is it because the one wearing the flag colors is not ‘wholly’ Filipina? See, there were a lot of turbulent emotions out there, including aghast reactions pointing to strong convictions, including immorality, disrespect of the country’s pride and using sex to sell the concept of nationality.

It is well known that the ONLY thing that will rally the Filipino populace is defense of The National Pride. See how we bristle when we hear of OFWs getting treated like crap in another country? This is commendable in my eyes, as we are aware of this pride, and it’s something that any Filipino shares with other Filipinos.

So, compared to the festering issues that are continuously damaging our National Pride, how could a photo of a nubile lady (with Filipino blood) wearing a painted version of the national flag be an affront to the National Pride? How could it be immoral and outrageous?

We are all naked under our clothes.

Look at the mirror and tell me that’s not ‘just cotton’ covering your naked body. It doesn’t matter what material was used, the fact is…

She is wearing the National Flag, Ladies and Gentlemen, so Let’s ALL Stand up in Salute!!!

Being an aspiring erotica writer (I bet you don’t know that yet, huh?), I always find it fun to play around with words and experiment with how they affect other people and myself. Some words provoke or bore us, and even make us just a bit weepy. A cursing match or what we call ‘b!tch session’ is only considered fair if both parties have similar cognition of most of the words exchanged. Similarly, a successful getting-to-know chat conversation will only work if both use descriptive language.

The secret of words is that an image automatically comes up in a person’s mind as soon as he utters the word or phrase. That image in turn stirs emotion, and incites a reaction. For example, voluptuous could mean several different things to different people; ’soda’ could make someone feel thirsty; and ‘wet’ could be a good thing or a bad thing.

In relationships, the way we convey our message reveals more about how we feel than we think. Hence the phrase ‘reading between the lines’. For example, a girl knows instinctively when her guy is still in love with his ex just by the way he says his ex’s name. In a normal conversation, he usually drops his guard long enough for you to really listen to what he isn’t saying.

Notice how often he mentions his ex? Now, replay the conversation in your mind and take note of how he said her name. Did he hesitate a bit? Did he say “you know my ex, Sheila (pause) … “?

You can say, “there’s a catch in his voice whenever he talks about her”. What happened is that his ex’s name invoked an image in his mind, and he reacted to it. His simple utterance of her name brought up a memory profound enough to affect him, and the listener (you) sensed it immediately.

And, remember, love is just a word unless you feel something when you say it.

Since I quit my job in an outsourcing company, I have been receiving queries about my plans. Should I return to and pursue my old interests (party planning, trench coat vending, tarot reading, French school and other similarly artsy, lucrative endeavors)?. I’m excited at the thought of immersing myself in that world again. However, my answer remains the same: “maybe”. It’s a promising ‘maybe’, though.

In particular, planning singles’ parties, getting people to talk to each other, preparing the stage for romance and what-not tickle me the most. Event planning is one thing that I, my mom and my sister share. Only, they focus on the food and the decorations, while I focus on the fun activities. After all, once the tedious stuff such as lodging reservations, transportation, club entrance fees, decorations and food plans are set, the real fun begins.

I talked about my ideas for a bachelorette party in another post and mentioned an advertiser, a UK company that sets up the best Hen Weekends in Europe and in other locations. Now, what they do isn’t simply small scale party planning. They are affiliated with several major hotels all over Europe and can plan unique activity-filled days for small or big groups of friends.

The whole party thing seems overwhelmingly complex, but it really just starts with one thing: the willingness to help people. A question that I and other would-be planners should answer is: am I ready to go the extra mile for people to experience the best party ever?

Again, a promising ‘maybe’.
