The ground was cold and the weather bleak, Serol should be freezing now if not for the warmth emitted by the Sword of the Three Souls. The Sword’s sheen seemed to take on a dark red light and it throbbed as it answered Serol’s question.

“I was named Tharg by my former master, the human paladin Palanth Othar. It has been told that he is the Chosen of 3 gods: Ye’Ol who controls the arcane powers of nature, Shandaman who summons the energy of wrath, and Valquis who wields the silver flame of purity. These gods created me, imbued me with their souls’ powers, and gave me to Lord Palanth.”

Serol, who stood hypnotized by Tharg’s account, could only stare at the glistening blade with the burning hilt. “What happened to your master?” He asked in an awed voice.

Tharg gave a great sigh, or what seemed like a sigh, and the hilt trembled some more. “Lord Palanth perished in the Cyclops wars, he couldn’t unleash my powers. That’s when he realized that my true wielder is his son, the boy born with a snake-like sigil on his palm, and not him. He sent his son and wife to Path Lark Icur when the Cyclops arrived. Path Lark Icur, the land of the elven archers, longtime allies of the Kingdom.”

Serol felt the sword cooling on his hand, like it was calming down for the first time since the start of its diatribe. “And King Cers, the one who hired you to retrieve me from the cyclops, is our enemy”, finished Tharg.

Serol stopped walking south and faced the north road, “Off to Path Lark Icur then? What’s the boy’s name by the way… the boy who’s supposed to be wielding you?”
