A Twisted Girl’s Take on Love, Dating and Zodiac Signs

Amazing Race Asia 3: Do You Dare?

Look what I got in my mail today. It’s a call for applications for the next Amazing Race Asia… ARA 3! Even if I know I am not qualified to join (I can’t drive), my mind did somersaults around scenarios that could happen if I sent a video and got accepted. We all know how they edit the scenes to make an entertaining story out of the couple’s relationship, right? They might just notice my not-so-normal quirks and magnify these for the world to see.

I can see it now: My partner would be working so hard to keep me from exploiting every single weakness that I notice among our competitors because he wants to be fair. And, I would buckle beneath the pressure of not being able to sexually harass my boyfriend for a long duration (because cameras are present) and resort to just pinching him on the butt whenever I think the cameras are pointing elsewhere; which in turn will send him into a fit of exasperation and be coldly silent while I snicker and giggle at how he’s trying his best to not be affected by my naughty pokes.

I can also predict which country we will be eliminated in. The race would take us to Japan where we won’t be able to restrain ourselves from jumping up and down and snapping photos when we see cosplayers walking around. We’d be waving at them and exclaiming “kawaii!!!!” and being like little kids in Tokyo while our competitors race to the pit stop ahead of us. [photo borrowed from web-japan.org]

While entertainment and controversy will always be the priority for editing reality shows like this, they can never edit what isn’t there in the first place. Meaning, most of the scenes they show could actually be insightful clips of the current status of the couple’s relationship.

Joining the Amazing Race Asia means that the applicant is ready to…

  • expose the nitty-gritty of their relationship to the viewing public.
  • face the possibility that he/she could be portrayed as a villain
  • bear the pressure of having a whole country rooting for him/her, and
  • be a celebrity after the race

For those who dare, here’s the link to the application form

Goodluck!

:D

Note: Maybe this effort is worth it if you get to see Marc Nelson during ARA reunions eh?

    That rocks woobie!

Just tell them you can drive, then when the driving part comes pawn it off to your partner! (Unless he/she did the same thing. Two non-drivers driving! Eep! Run for your lives! :D)

har har har yeah, unless of course there’s a driving test… I really think that AXN learned a valuable lesson from this year’s race (ARA2), that drama on tv sells! I bet the next ones they’re gonna get are those who have a lot of relationship quirks.
