Thoughts on Valkyrie Server

I have misgivings about going to Valkyrie server for several reasons:

1. They cannot promise a bot-free community. This means that while PK-ing bots is a given, it will all come down to the nitty gritty of being a techie and coming up with bot configs that will fit your err char’s lifestyle. Like what happened to the other servers. I got excited when Thor server came, but due to the truth that this game’s merchant cannot keep the bot from coming in, my reception to Valkyrie is lukewarm at best.

2. LU!, and apparently Gravity, has no solution for the duplicate bug YET. Valkyrie server is a pHp-battle. How can I get assured that the gameplay is fair when people may still abuse the duplicate bug. I’ll be paying good money for the items, and I bet it will be much more than that I pay in the commercial server because of competition, while others will have better items without really spending as much. It’s just plain unfair.

3. I understand that Valkyrie server is meant to draw in new patrons, but really, the best way to do business is to take care of the old patrons. Those who have already spent enough during their stay in the commercial servers will not spend more in the new one because it’s just… pointless. It’s still the same game, why pay some more when you’ve already paid enough? The “free play” clause isn’t even attractive to old players, because they know that the accumulated price of the premiums they will buy to gain more ground in a new world earlier will be much more than that they’ve already spent.

4. Chat mode. I may be going to Valkyrie to chat, but this decision is also half-hearted. People’s investments are in the other servers, I have a feeling that they will stay there. And if I really need new friends, I’ll go visit probaldur forums, or simply, friendster.

Good points. It’s still the old paying customers who will prolong the life of RO simply because THEY PAY!
